My first posting was more or less an introduction to describe how I came to end up here in Hawaii. I have been here exactly three weeks as of tomorrow and have had quite the adventure so far...
My journey back to Hawaii from the mainland was not a particularly enjoyable one to say the least. In addition to the 11 hours of flying, I encountered a few setbacks along the way. Besides being utterly distraught at leaving my boyfriend and our love child/puppy (who has a name, Hailey) behind, I had to stand in line to check my bag for over an hour, my plane took off late, I had a whopping 30 seconds between getting off my first plane and onto my second, our baggage was brought to the wrong carousel where we all waited for 45+ minutes to find out it was all sitting unattended in the middle of the floor near another carousel, my shuttle was an hour late, my bags were taken by a man on the shuttle, I found out my new room is actually an ex-laundry room with a grand total of about 50 sq. ft. with a 6 inch thick, horrible mattress, muddy floors and greyish walls (*please note in my profile I am a certified clean freak), when I went to unpack my comforter it ripped sending feathers EVERYWHERE, and last but not least, woke up in the middle of the night to pee and fell down the stairs and cracked my toe nail in half! Phew, and that's how my new adventure began. I do have to give myself credit though, through all of this, I did not cry once, and impressed everyone with my new found inner calm (ha!).
